
On October 12, 2025, the New Canadian Community Centre (NCCC) successfully hosted its 24th International Seniors’ Day Celebration at 180 Yorkland Blvd, North York, Toronto. Centered on the theme “Joyful Living, Healthy Aging,” the event brought together nearly 600 members, performers, and their families, making it one of the Chinese community’s most anticipated annual celebrations.

In his address, President Yang Haifeng reflected on the Xinhua Association’s 24-year journey of serving the community. He emphasized that the Association is committed to enriching the lives of seniors by providing a wide range of cultural, recreational, and wellness activities, enabling them to enjoy an active, fulfilling, and healthy life while living far from their homeland.
During the event, Members of Parliament Paul Chiang and Jean Yip presented the King Charles III Coronation Medal to 66 outstanding volunteers and distinguished community members in recognition of their exceptional dedication and significant contributions to the community.

Other distinguished guests attending the event included Ontario Members of Provincial Parliament Pega Li, Billy Pang, and Adil Shamji, as well as Toronto City Councillors Jennifer McKelvie and Cui Binghui, along with Mayor’s representative Ms. Chen Yan and a representative of Councillor Chen Shengyuan.
Federal Prime Minister Mark Carney and several federal, provincial, and municipal representatives also sent congratulatory messages, expressing their care and support for seniors and their appreciation for the contributions of multicultural communities.

Cultural Performances
The four-hour cultural showcase featured a diverse range of performances, including group singing, dance, instrumental music, and fashion shows. Programs such as the choir performance “The Sea, My Hometown”, the Xinjiang dance “Beautiful as She Is”, and the cheongsam showcase “The Rhythm of Umbrellas” highlighted the talents, creativity, and vitality of the senior community.
